The study covers modulations of growth, leaf yield, moisture content of leaf and soil under influence of some organic mulches applied directly in the field, or by growing some intercrop and mulching the biomass produced there itself to serve as surface mulch. With this practice, a substantial boost in leaf yield and economic returns was observed at a very little input cost, thus promising a boost to sericulture industry of rainfed areas like South Bihar
