The authors diagnosed generalised tuberculosis in a captive Mandarin duck killed in order to gain a diagnosis.Main pathological and pathohistological findings were tuberculous lesions in the liver, thymus and in the larynx containing numerous acid- and alcohol-fast bacteria.Mycobacteria have also been cultured from the spleen, liver and other organs showing alterations using a Petragnani-type agar with glycerine in four weeks.Based on their culture and biochemical characteristics, the bacteria were identified as belonging to the Mycobacterium avium complex.
