Contribution to the occurence of black leg (Phoma lingam) of rape in Hungary

Among fungal diseases of rapes, the authors deal with leaf spot and stem canker caused by Phoma lingam in details, with thorough description of disease symptoms, infection dynamics and the role of influencing factors. According to observations and studies of the authors conducted between 1995 and 1999. Phoma lingam causes more and more severe losses in rapes. Early autumn infections may lead to winter killing of the weak plants. Infection of the stem will results in constrained ripening involving significant seed shedding. There were conspicuous differences among the disease incidence of the trial sites. The authors recommend to make a reliable evaluation of comparative trials to obtain a clear view of the susceptibility of varieties
