We carried out three experiments to know the effects of time and rate of nitrogen application for arrowhead (Sagittaria trifolia) var. edulis (Sieb.) Ohwi) on the tuber yield. The results of the experiments were wa follows: 1) When nitrogen fertilizer was applied for arrowhead, the time was more important than whole volume of fertilizer. The target yield (15,000 kg/ha) of good quality tuber was obtained by totally 310 kg/ha nitrogen fertilizer application. 2) The yield that the fertilizer was not applied was 39% of a case to apply a basal dressing and two times topdressing. 3) A small amount of topdressing in the early stage was not effective in the tuber yield. When nitrogen fertilizer was applied at 100 kg/ha till early and middle in August, the tuber yield increased. However when nitrogen supply was continued until thickening time of tuber, the yield decreased in number. 4) In case of topdressing being made only once it for labor saving, it is effective to apply the fertiliz
