Six different kinds of hay were given to sheep to confirm the universal validity of the digestibility of crude protein and neutral detergent fiber by comparing it with the standard values of digestibility. The digestibility of crude protein for the 6 types of hay used in the present study was found to have the universal validity for sheep. An increase in content of crude protein in hay increased its digestibility, except for the content over 18 to 20%. The digestibility of neutral detergent fiber for 6 kinds of hay used in this study was speculated to have the universal validity for sheep. The digestibility of neutral detergent fiber in hay was the least at its content around 50%
