Japanese black cattle production in Japan has placed large emphasis on improvement based on factors regrading hereditary characteristics. The demand spreads nationwide if an excellent seed bull is secured and is evaluated high in the market and as a result, the price of cattle in the market reacts favorably. However, in underdeveloped production centers such as Hokkaido, the securing of excellent sperm becomes a large problem. In the future, because of the development of Japanese black cattle production in Japan, it is necessary to secure a seed bull for systematic improvement in quality. Accordingly, this paper focuses on the sperm supply and the price in Hokkaido and consideration is given to direction of the Japanese black cattle improvement in the future
