[Production of doubled haploid lines of wheat by distant hybridization (wheat x maize) method]
1999
Brazauskas, G. | Pasakinskiene, I. (Lithuanian Inst. of Agriculture, Dotnuva (Lithuania))
Lines of 21 winter wheat (Triticum aestivum L.) hybrids were crossed with maize (Zea mays L.) to produce 46 doublet haploid (DH) plants of wheat. The average embryo formation and plant regeneration rates were 3.6 and 16.5 respectively. Only a part of florets were and grain formation did not exceed 50 of total floret number. Obtained DH plants will be used for further breeding and genetic studies, such as development of DNA markers and genetic mapping
