[Cultivation of tetraploid rye on light soils]
1999
Baniuniene, A. (Lithuanian Inst. of Agriculture, Perloja (Lithuania). Perloja Research Station)
Over the period 1995-1996 experiments were carried at the Perloja experimental farm with a view to investigating tetraploid rye sowing time and seed rate and comparing its productivity with other winter cereals on a sandy loam soil. The highes grain yield was obtained when rye was sown on September 5 and 15, there the yield increased 5 and 8 respectively as compared with the earliest sowing date - August 25. A delay in sowing until October reduced the grain yield by on average 20. The highest yield was obtained when rye sowing rates were 4.5 and 5.5 million germinable seed per hectare
