Various tree species had been introduced during the previous centuries as a result of silviculture. More than a hundred year old forest stands of introduced species in Skede district (Latvia) characterize the full cycle of forest cultivation. Until now, assessment of these forest stands has been performed irregularly. The study investigates, main assessment parameters of Common silver (Abies alba Mill), Douglas fir (Pseudotsuga menziesii (Mirb.) Franco), European larch (Larix decidua Mill.) and Eastern white pine (Pinus strobus L.) stands - average height, diameter, basal area, growing stock, number of trees per area, straightness of stems and character of branches. The results suggest that planted in sandy loam morain soils, introduced tree species create highly productive forest stands with a high quality growing stock.
