A survey was done in Tugbok and Calinan districts, Davao City [Philippines] where durian is widely grown. Seven varieties namely: Puyat, Umali, Arancillo, Chanee, Alcon Fancy, DES 916 and DES 806 were surveyed to determine its response to drought condition. Among the seven varieties, Puyat, Alcon Fancy, and Umali were observed to be the least affected in terms of yield and fruit weight despite the high temperature and moisture stress. Chanee, on the other hand, showed a marked decrease as compared to its average fruit weight during normal condition at 34 percent. Arancillo had high incidence of fruit splitting without even reaching its maturity thus decreasing the number of marketable fruits to eighty percent. Only two varieties: DES 806 and DES 916 gave no yield due to flower abscission at the onset of drought. Furthermore, mortality rate of the two local varieties were high at thirty-six and thirty-two percent, respectively which showed that both were susceptible to drought condition
