The use of ridge tillage system and natural vegetative contour strips as alternative land management systems for corn plantations was evaluated. The study focused on the effects on soil erosion, crop yield, and other agronomic parameters, weeds, hydrological properties and processes, and economics. Four treatments were applied, namely: T1 - contour plowing (CP); T2 - ridge tillage (RT); T3 - natural vegetative contour strips (NVS); T4 - combination of RT and NVS. Soil loss was determined by sediment collection devices installed on the lower end of the plots. The experiment was designed in RCBD [Randomized Complete Block Design] with three replications. Findings showed that both treatments using ridge tillage (T2 and T4) were found capable of having three croppings/year due to reduced turn around period. Treatments T2 and T4 yielded an average of 13.26 t/ha/year compared with only 9.48 t/ha/year for non RT treatments (T1 and T3) which had only two croppings in a year. Economic analysis showed that RT system can yield an annual net income of P39,446.75/ha per year compared with P24,982.50 by conventional farming. RT also reduced soil loss by 58%, NVS by 73-91%, NVS + RT by 95-98%. Ridge tillage had higher infiltration rate (40 cm/hr) compared with the other treatments
