The performance of existing models of cookstove was evaluated and an improved models to facilitate adoption of cookstoves in Region 2 [Cagayan Valley] were developed. Seven cookstove were tested: 1.) ITDI-DOST cookstove; 2.) ISU-ANEC modified ITDI-DOST without smoke stack; 3.) ISU-ANEC modified ITDI-DOST with smoke stack; 4.) Maligaya-PhilRice cookstove; 5.) IRRIIPA-QALAN; 6.) ISU-ANEC Cookstove Advanced Prototype 1; and 7.) ISU-ANEC Cookstove Advanced Prototype 2. Findings showed that the average kindling time for seven cookstoves ranged from 0.27 to 1.0 minute. The kindling time of the ISU-ANEC Cookstove Advanced Prototype 2 was the fastest at 0.27 minute. The ITDI-DOST cookstove's kindling time was slowest at 1.0 minute. In terms of average time to boil two liters of water, the ITDI-DOST cookstove took the longest average boiling time of 13.61 minutes. The ISU-ANEC Cookstove Advance Prototype 2 was the most convenient model to use because of its shorter kindling and boiling time and longer rice hull fuel consumption time. The ISU-ANEC Cookstove Prototype 2 was .52 cm high. The hopper served as a receptacle as well as a device for delivering rice hull/crushed corn cobs fuel into the bottom of the combustion cone. The cookstove consisted of a frustum which serves as the combustion cone. The recommended cookstove for Region 2 was light weight, easy to fabricate, does not need too much attention, equipped with ashpan and rotating lever to facilitate ash discharge
