Five hundred and sixty diabetic individuals were interviewed to know the diet, eating habits, eating frequency, patterns and body weight before the onset of diabetes. Most of the diabetic individuals used to consume sufficiently high amount of sugar and fat before the onset of the disease. Eating frequency and patterns were not related to the disease until more amount of the food was taken. Eighty five percent of the male and 88% of the female diabetics were overweight by the US standard and 95% of the male and almost all of the female diabetic were overweight by the WHO standard at the onset of the disease. Those individuals who consumed too much sugar and fat were more exposed to the disease. Obese were also more prone to the disorder. In the light of this study, eating of too much sugar and fat should be avoided.
