In an experiment conducted in a house near the Phoenix Store Athens, in a randomized complete block design with three replications, Periplaneta americana (Linnaeus) - the American cockroach (AC), responded differently to different food-stuffs (F = 11.10, PR F = 0.0001). The AC showed the highest response to sugar (Alpha = 0.05, DF = 8). Although the response to cornflour was less than that to sugar and more than that to rice but it was not significantly different (NSD). The response of AC to rice was NSD from that to wheat flour, to which the response was NSD from that to check. This study reveals that AC responds more to the food-stuffs tike sugar and corn flour and suggests their more protection using the tight packages for their storage.
