Two separate experiments were carried out on 85 milking Black-and-White cows with predominate share of Holstein-Friesian blood. In experiment 1 the cows were divided into 3 groups fed a diet based on different types of roughages (maize silage; grass silage; maize silage + grass silage 1:1). In experiment 2 the cows were divided into 2 groups (grass silage; maize silage). The basal diet in both experiments was supplemented with a special protein concentrate. In experiment 1 cows fed the diet based on mixed grass - maize silage produced more milk than cows from another groups. In experiment 2 cows fed the diet with maize silage produced significantly more milk than cows fed grass silage
