The main objective of the research was to evaluate the results of the breeding program aimed at increasing the number of teats in Polish Landrace sows born in south-east part of Malopolska Province. In the thirty-year period examine, the number of teats in the whole population of Polish Landrace sows increased in its phenotypic value by 0.56. However, the increase in the number of teats, noted in sows was not constant. The progress achieved was greater than expected
