The goal of experimental measurements was to study the operation parameters of a ploughing set consisting of a tractor ZTS 183 45 M2000 and a plough PLOWER (5 bottom) made by ZTS TEES Martin [Slovak Republic]. During testing, soil characteristics (volume mass of soil, soil moisture, soil penetration resistance and soil shear strenght), operation parameters of the ploughing set (operating width, ploughing depth, operating speed and fuel consumption) and plough draft resistance were determined. The soil used for tests was heavy, with a high content of clay particles and stones. Results indicated that an increase in operating width of a plough, which is often required in practice, need not be a suitable method for reducing fuel consumption per hectare. It was observed that a plough PLOWER has an optimal need of draft resistance and is suitable for a tractor ZTS 183 45 M2000
