Most environmentally important localities in Slovakia were selected by applying geostatical technology on existing data. The distribution and accumulation of heavy metals in soils depend upon numerous factors, including soil properties, soil pedogenic processes, soil-plant relationships, as well as the quantities, forms and origins of the heavy metals. The analytical methods and procedures were applied to clear up these relationships
