Dry matter yield of three Andropogon gayanus in the second year was much lower than three Panicum maximum. P. maximum cv. purple guinea gave maximum yield of 2,872.4 kg/rai form 5 cuts (3 Feb., 27 Mar., 25 Apr., 7 Jul. and 18 Aug. 1994.) followed by Nutzukaze (2,573.2 kg/rai) and Nutzuyutaka (1,283.9 kg/rai). For A. gayanus dry matter yield was in the order of Planaltina (1,881.8), Gamba (1,304.2) and Kent (991.2 kg/rai). The nutritive value in term of crude protein content in leaf and stem of the two genus were similar, higher in the dry season (3 Feb., 27 Mar., 25 Apr.) and lower in the rainy season (7 Jul., 18 Aug.) Nutzuyutaka was the best as in the first year, average 8.35 and 3.65 percent CP for leaf and stem. The values for Gamba, Nutzukase, purple guinea, Planaltina and Kent were 8.08, 7.79, 7.25, 7.19 and 7.16 percent in leaf and 3.91, 3.29, 3.52, 3.14 and 3.22 percent CP in stem.
