There is growing interest in pea seed starch and mainly its component amylose for non-food utilisation. 402 accessions of the Czech National Collection of Pea Genetic Resources were analysed in a one-year trial for seed starch, amylose/amylopectin and crude protein content. The accessions were divided according to seed shape and starch, amylose/amylopectin and crude protein content into the 9 classes. Classification scales for evaluation of these characteristics were proposed. The starch content of smooth, wrinkled and intermediate peas was correlated with amylose, amylopectin and crude protein content. Results of screening could be considered as a preliminary source of information for breeding of pea varieties with improved starch and amylose content
