Agricultural sector and government expenditures in Slovakia

Development theorists, policy makers and farmers have often identified lack of access to formal credit as a great impediment to production. As a way of assisting farmers, governments in many countries have established institutions to provide financial resources to the agricultural sector and Slovakia is no exception. In Slovakia there are three main state funds which facilitate financial sources to the agricultural sector. The main objective of this paper was to provide an assessment of the role of the sector in the national economy and its contribution to gross domestic product (GDP) in relation to government's capital expenditure to different sectors.
