Black rot of cucurbits has been known in Hungary since the middle of the '80s. In the last two years disease incidence considerably increased in cucumbers and watermelons. The teleomorphous of the pathogen is the pseudothecium forming fungus Dydimella bryoniae (Auersw.) Rehm, while the anamorphous is Phoma cucurbitacearum (Fr.:Fr.) Sacc. producing pycnidia. Up to now only the anamorphous Phoma cucurbitacearum was obtained after isolating the fungus, the teleomorphous form has not been found yet. Based on literature data, there are several active substances suitable for preventing the disease. Among the rich choice of fungicides there are products against powdery mildew, downy mildew and scab. Our objective was to select the most effective compounds.
