Currently, some land suitability classification criteria have been made for various commodities including for arabica coffee. However, some of those are based upon land physic factors. This research aimed to arrange a land classification criterion of organic arabica coffee based on the organic arabica coffee yield. This research was conducted in Bandar and Bukit sub districts, Central Aceh Regency from March to October 1997. The examined land units were created based on elevation and slope. Soil samples analyzed were physical, chemical, and biological aspects for each examined land unit. The yield average of arabica coffee for six years was taken from the same land examined. Land suitability classification used was modified criteria released by Center for Plantation Research, Jember. Result showed that actual land suitability class for all unit were S3 (marginal suitable) with limiting factors were elevation, slope, and P-available. These facts were not parallel with the yield. Potential land suitability classes consisted of S2 (suitable) with limiting factors elevation, effective depth of soil, and P-available, S3 (marginal suitable) with limiting factor elevation. The land characteristics affecting low or high yield of arabica coffee were altitude, slope, C-organic, N-total, P-available, base saturation, cation exchange capacity, number of soil microorganism, phosphorous dissolve microorganism, and respiration. The relationship between yield and land characteristic were presented in regression form. The highest of yield and physical quality were found at 1,150-1,350 above sea level and 0-8 percent slope. It recommends that land suitability classification for arabica coffee uses criteria arranged based on production class
