Modification of yield targetting equations for fertilization of rainfed sorghum under semi arid tropics
2001
Bangar, A.R. (Zonal Agricultural Research Station, Raviwar Peth, Solapur (India))
By inclusion of stored ceding soil moisture at seedling, the yield targetting-equations were modified as : F nutrient = M/C2 (NR/CF/100 x T) - CS/ CF x S nutrient. According, fertilizer adjustment equation for yield targetting of sorghum were formulated as FN - M/ C2 (9.586 T-0.527 SN), FP2O5 = M/C2 (6.160 T - 6.204 SP) and FK2O = M/ C2 (2.772 T - 0.040 SK). The validity of the modified equations was tested in follow up trials for two years which indicated that modified yield targetting equations were significantly superior in nutrient (N and P) uptake and biomass production, followed by Bangar and Zende's six tier, yield targetting and farmer's practice. On the basis of soil moisture and soil tests through a modified yield targetting equations, the fertilizer schedule for dryland sorghum was worked out.
