Combining ability was studied in a 8 x 8 diallel set (excluding reciprocals) of wheat (Triticum aestivum L. em. Thell) for quality parameters like protein and gluten content. Both gca and sca were significiant for protein in borondeficient as well as in boron supplemented conditions. But only gca for gluten content was significant in both the conditions. Additive as well as non additive genes were important for protein content but additive genes were relatively more important for gluten content. UP 262 and Sonalika were good general combinors for proteins as well as gluten content in boron deficient and boron supplemented conditions. Sonara 64 for protein content and Fang 60 for gluten content were good general combiners in both the situations. Up 262 x Aghrani was considered as a most promising line for future breeding programme as it showed concomitant improvement for the quality parameters considered in the present study.
