Wide-scale under nutrition in the under developed world is related with economic access to food. Indirectly food and nutrient security is closely associated with economic condition. Broad based policies to overcome malnutrition includes ·Women education is most important. The improvement in women's education and status together accounted for 55% of the total reduction in child malnutrition from 1970 to 1995. ·Supplementation, diversi-fying diets or change in eating habits and breeding nutrients into staple crops through biotechno-logical means improves micro-nutrient deficiencies. ·Integrated watershed management is the recommended technology of animal and agriculture based food production system because this ensures environmental security of the 3 fragile ecosystems - ie. arid, coastal and mountain. ·Improvement in food insecurity for urban poor is possible by enhancing. Physical environment, health conditions and economic access.
