In Kazakhstan the first experience for development of multifetal sheep herd started in 1973. The distinguishing peculiarity of works was that for the first time on local Kazakh fat-rumped and Kazakh half-coarse-hair (Kargaly) sheep rams of multifetal coarse-hair breed - romanov were used and on their basis there was developed a group of sheep with fertility 175-180 percent . The second distinguishing feature was the fact that in conditions of piedmont zone of south-east of the republic a new genotype of multifetal sheep is developed by crossing of Kazakh fine-fleece sheep with rams of "Finnish landras" breed. At present in the pilot farm Aksengerskoye of Zhambul region Almaty oblast there is a herd of sheep with fertility 170-175 percent .
