Grain production and grain market in Latvia

Grain production in Latvia is the third most important agricultural sector after milk and meat production, and it plays a considerable role within the national economy. The article analyses the development of internal and external grain market in Latvia in the light of FTA and other processes. Main attention is paid to the dynamics of grain production and consumption volumes and interrelation of these indices with other economic characteristics, such as GDP, salaries, the State support, level of purchase price, export, import, based on the method of regression analysis. Calculations show that changes in grain production are correlated with grain exports, but use of grain products - with macro-economic indices, which are an object of the study.
