This study was undertaken to find the effect of silicate fertilizer on growth and eating quality of a transplanted rice. The treatment were plus silicate fertilizer versus no silicate fertilizer. Significant differences were found for culm length, number of panicles per hill, lodging tolerance, overall eating quality, and protein content of milled rice between rice of + Si and non-Si. The results obtained led to the conclusion that it is possible to reduce the protein content in milled rice and improve the eating quality of rice by applying silicate fertilizer
