Sediment samples were collected from five identified points along Butuanon River, Metro Cebu, Philippines from September to November 1996. Samples were analyzed for copper, lead and zinc. The sediment samples were fractionated sequentially. Metal content analysis was conducted by atomic absorption spectroscopy. Using the Tessier et. al. (1979) sequential chemical extraction scheme, the order of remobilizability was PbCuZn. The main association of lead, copper and zinc was in the residual portion. The residual or non-available fraction (relative to the total metal content) in all samples are as follows: Pb, 30%; Cu, 39%; and Zn, 43%
