An experiment was conducted to investigate the effect of BBTV on leaf chlorophyll and tissue protein of banana cvs. Dwarf Cavendish and William Hybrid (Musa AAA Cavendish subgroup) under glass house conditions during 1997-98. The results indicated that virus reduced total chlorophyll content (a & b) by 26.31 % and 33.1 % in Dwarf Cavendish and William Hybrid, respectively. Likewise, host tissue protein was adversely affected by 18.89% and 32.1% in Dwarf Cavendish and William Hybrid, respectively over healthy controls. These findings suggest a positive correlation of bunchyness and stunted growth with these parameters.
