Raingun (PY1-30) was operated with I2-mm and 10-mm nozzle sizes. For Sprinkle irrigation plot water source was a dugwell having a very low recharge rate for Sprinkle irrigation plot. The surface irrigation plot was irrigated with a three strainers skimming well. Qualities of both water sources were almost the same. Similar treatments were applied to both the plots. Effects of surface and Sprinkle irrigation methods on wheat crop were determined. Salinity of both irrigation plots was found sustained and uniform. Seasonal effects of salinity were more pronounced in the topsoil. Sprinkle irrigation plot performed better over surface irrigation method in terms of water saving and yield. Using Sprinkle irrigation method, 68% water saving and 17% increase in yield was obtained. Water Use Efficiency for Sprinkle irrigation method was 1.77 kg/m3 and for surface irrigation was 0.895 kg/m3. More financial benefits could be obtained from Sprinkle irrigation system than surface irrigation system in terms of water saving and increase in yield. However, the capital and operating costs are more for Sprinkle irrigation method than surface irrigation method.
