Changes of selected biochemical characteristics of dairy cows during critical biological phases

The effects of seasonal composition of diet on the content of urea, glucose and asparate transaminase (AspAT) in blood serum and on the urea concentration in urine of dairy cows during dry period and after calving were determined. All three kinds of the diet used (winter, summer and transient diet) showed a higher urea concentration in comparison with the period after calving. The AspAT activity was higher during the whole period estimated, with a higher increase in dairy cows after calving when fed summer and transient diets
