Under natural conditions in the field, actual nitrogen fixation is exposed to limiting factors which affect plant growth and reduce maximum effects of symbiosis. The objective of this study was to assess the effectiveness of actual nitrogen fixation in some soybean genotypes (NS-L-101137, NS-L-101147, NS-L-101164, NS-L-101165, NS-L-200144 and Afrodita) in order to identify most effective genotypes and recommend them for breeding purposes. The obtained results showed that genotypes NS-L-200144 and NS-L-101137 had the highest potential for nitrogen fixation. According, they were recommended as potential parents of high yielding soybean varieties.
