Significant advantage of spray drying, comparing to other techniques, lies in the possibility of producing a fine powder with desirable characteristics. Influencing a final product characteristics can be achieved by varying of working parameters, especially: inlet air temperature and number of rotary atomizer revolutions per minute. Research was conducted using laboratory scale equipment with evaporation capacity 7.5 kg/h with inlet/outlet air temperatures 300 deg C/90 deg C. Minimal and maximal inlet air temperatures were 170 deg C and 240 deg C. Number of revolutions per minute was varied in a range from 35220 to 49290 rpm. Following physical characteristics of powder were measured: particle size, bulk density, dry matter, and solubility. These characteristics were correlated with inlet air temparature and number of revolutions per minute as independent variables.
