Characteristics of foreign trade of livestock, meat and meat products [Yugoslavia]

In total exports of agricultural and food products, livestock, meat and meat products play a very important role. Without expanding their exports it is impossible to expand agricultural exports to a considerable level. However, in F.R. Yugoslavia all the most significant parameters connected to the livestock, meat and meat products show negative tendencies (the number of livestock, the number of livestock for slaughter, production of meat and meat products, export, import and the like). These tendencies are caused by both internal and external factors. In order to prevent negative tendencies in F.R. Yugoslavia, it is necessary to resume livestock fund as soon as possible and stabilize livestock production that will supply domestic market and processing industry; this will enable its development and prosperity in the future. Only steady production represents a high grade basis for expanding exports and higher presence on the international market. The vital precondition is the formation of conditions for efficient production that will motivate manufacturers to organize their production on the long-term basis at the market. The whole problem will be solved through marketing, that is, the combination of mixed marketing strategies to satisfy the foreign consumers' needs.
