Effect of yucca supplementation to the diet of female lambs

The aim was to establish the effect yucca supplementation to the female lambs diet. Thirty Karakachanska and Balkan mountaiuous lambs were allocated in to 2 groups. During the experiment the lambs were fed diets that had similar composition and quality and comprised consentrate mix and meadow hay at a ratio 57/43. The only difference being the addition of 2 g/head yucca daily to the diet of the experimental group. Based on the results of the experiment following couclusion was made: The female lambs given a supplement of 2 g/head yucca to the diet tended to have higher weight gain (7.4%) and better protein utilization.
