The effect of feeding transgenic RR maize to rats and rabbits was evaluated in this study. Besides this, rumen degradation of RR maize organic matter was assessed in cattle using the in situ method. Feeding compound feeds with 11 % of RR maize had not any negative effect on weight gains, feed intake, digestibility, nitrogen compounds value, and other metabolic parameters determined in rats and rabbits. Chemicophysical properties of rabbit meat were similar to those of rabbits fed control diet. Feeding transgenic or isogenic maize followed the same rumen maize degradation dynamics. As shown by our experiments feeding transgenic maize did not affect yields, feed intake, and digestion in experimental animals, nor the quality of their products.
