2001
Dvorak, P. | Tichy, F. (Veterinarni a Farmaceuticka Univ., Brno (Czech Republic))
An ichthyopathological investigation was carried out in 2 fish cultures with Nomorhamphus liemi during 4 years. Three diseases were observed as follows: 1) hatching of larvae with low viability - these larvae jump in a vertical position, could not eat and die after few days; 2) deadly infection of subadult or adult specimens by Aeromonas hydrophila; 3) a prominence on the ventral part of the head observed in an adult female, communicating by its cavity with the gill. Despite the fact that fish were fed by plankton catched in natural ponds with Piscinoodinium spp. occurrence, no parasite invasion was observed. In comparison with other aquarium fish, the breeding of Nomorhamphus liemi does not represent any serious ichthyopathological problem.
