This review article summarizes recent advances on stress in fish. The main biological indicators of stress as well as the effects of stress on reproduction, growth, and resistance are presented. The possibilities of stress reduction and factors modifying stress response are also discussed. Special chapters focus on stress occurring during normal technological procedures of fish production, such as fish feeding, transport, manipulation, changes of water temperature, etc. The most frequent environmental stress factors acting as predisposition factors in the occurrence of some fish diseases are listed.
