In Oru Vegetable Oil LLC in cooperation with the scientists of Institute of Agricultural Machinery EAU a technological method for rape-oil-based diesel oil manufacturing was developed. A reactor for biodiesel fuel production was designed and built. Methanol and ethanol are being used for the rape oil esterification. Comparative tests of the petroleum-based and rape-oil-based diesel fuels were carried out. Rape-oil-based fuel has a higher viscosity and density level in comparison with petroleum-based fuel but a smaller net heat. Tractor diesel engine D-240 laboratory tests have pointed out that using rape-oil methyl ester declines the torque and power output 5 per cent and rape oil ethyl ester - 11 per cent in comparison with petroleum-based fuel. At the same time the exhaust gases smoke content and temperature were less when using rape-oil methyl and ethyl esters. When working on rape-oil-based fuel it is reasonable to raise the injector working pressure up to 19 MPa
