2003
Auzins, A. (Latvia University of Agriculture, Jelgava (Latvia))
The paper concerns with the findings of a study into terminology resources in land management. It examines theoretical foundations and international aspects of terminology development. The formal approach is preferred for development of branch's terminology, because it is the way, how existing terminology resources can be rationally used, experts and language specialists involved, and official acknowledgement provided. The dictionary of land management terms, its definitions and equivalents in foreign language is of great need, because it provides the people related to the field with unitary understanding about use of particular term in accordance with the appropriate context, traditions and practice. This contribution includes two views on land management and identifies multi-disciplinary nature of it, thus working on development of the terminology resources, especially when making selection of the terms, it is reasonable to subdivide the land management scope into five sections - land economics, land law, land registration and cadastre, land planning and development and other supplementing issues. The paper tries to identify the possibilities for developing terminology resources of the branch and the bottlenecks that may hinder binding relation between theory of the terminology work and the forms, how the results can be reflected. Finally, it proposes the scheme for development of formalised terminology resources in the branch of land management
