The results of bio weed control in Hungary
2002
Kripner, V.
A new method of biological plant protection is the weed control with natural active substances. The aim of this method is not to clear the weeds off totally, rather to supress them to a rate that they do not disturb the life of useful plants. For this method, such species were needed, which have allelopathic effect caused by their metabolits. In Hungary, 600 species have been examined by Peter Solymosi. 150 plants of them have effect on the weeds. Only the extract of Callistemon cirtinus could be used as herbicid so far.
