The aim of this study was to investigate the relationship between seasonal flight pattern of the cotton bollworm (Helicoverpa armigera Hb.), monitored by pheromone traps, and the appearance of larvae in course of the season, for control decision making. We monitored the flight pattern by a large-capacity funnel type of pheromone trap in a corn field, recording captures twice a week (Ocsa, Pest county, Hungary, June 15 - September 9, 2001). From July 1th onwards, larvae found in 4 times 50 cobs were collected on days of inspecting traps, their species identity were determined, and the stadium of cotton bollworm larvae were determined by measuring the width of the headcapsule.
