Clomazone is the sole active ingredient belonging to the isoxazolidinone family. It has a very favourable toxicological and ecotoxicological profile, being of low acute oral and dermal toxicity with no irritation properties and no evidence of carcinogenicity, mutagenicity or teratogenic effects. Clomazone is also of low toxicity to soil micro-organisms, birds and honeybees. No residue has been found above the detection limit of 0,01 ppm. It has to be applied pre-emergence of the weeds and is normally sprayed after seeding but pre-emergence of the crop. A high level of weed control against several key weeds has been demonstrated where soil humidity is sufficient, and a high level of crop safety has been shown on several vegetable and industrial crops. Formulated as capsule suspension under Centium 36CS brand, it is able to highly enhance efficacy of several key standard herbicides in case of tank mixtures
