Improving productivity of gogorancah rice in rainfed lowland of Central Java through tillage and nutrient management

Inglés. The experiment was carried out at Jakenan Experiment Station, Central Java during 1994/1995 wet season. The soil was grey planosol with low fertility and poor internal drainage. The experiment was arranged by using Split Plot Design with tillage methods as main-plot and fertilizer level as sub-plot. There were interactions between the effects of tillage and fertilizer application on the maximum root length and root mass density of the experimented gogorancah rice. The highest of root mass density was obtained from deep tillage with application of NPK + FYM. The highest of plant height, productive tiller, grain yield and straw dry weight of gogorancah rice were obtained from applying NPK + FYM. Application NPK + FYM gave maximum straw P and K uptake, consequently total P and K uptake of gogorancah rice. Gogorancah rice did not require deep tillage to obtain maximum total NPK uptake and to increase productivity. The deep tillage did not improve the productivity of gogorancah rice for Jakenan soil

Percobaan telah dilaksanakan di Kebun Percobaan Jakenan, Jawa Tengah selama MH 1994/1995. Jenis tanah lokasi percobaan adalah planosol kelabu dengan tingkat kesuburan rendah dan drainase buruk. Percobaan disusun menggunakan rancangan petak terpisah dengan metode pengolahan tanah sebagai petak utama dan tingkat pupuk sebagai anak petak. Ada saling tindak antara pengaruh pengolahan tanah dan pemupukan terhadap panjang akar maksimum dan kerapatan massa akar padi gogorancah. Kerapatan massa tertinggi dicapai perlakuan kombinasi pengolahan dalam dan pemberian pupuk kandang + NPK. Pemberian NPK + pupuk kandang memberikan hasil gabah dan berat jerami kering padi gogorancah yang tertinggi, serta memberikan total serapan P dan K maksimum. Padi gogorancah tidak memerlukan pengolahan tanah dalam untuk meningkatkan produktivitas dan total serapan NPK maksimum. Sistem pengolahan dalam ternyata tidak memperbaiki produktivitas padi gogorancah bagi jenis tanah seperti di Jakenan
