Modern agronomic concepts and practices evident in Kauatilya's artha-sastra(c.300 BC)

One of the chapters in the artha-sastra written by Kautilya (321-296 BC) deal with the agriculture of the time. In this paper an attempt has been made to analyze the contents of the text and interpret those in the context of our knowledge of modern agronomic concepts and practices. It is remarkable to note how well the knowledge of agronomy had advanced more than 2000 years ago.
