The potential of eco-organic and conservation agriculture in assisting strategic aims will be demonstrated by reference to four case studies, three in Lithuania and one in the United Kingdom. A national survey argues the needs to pay careful attention to inter-relationships between the potential for eco-organic agriculture, land quality and soil reaction and considers the implications for sustainable soil use in Lithuania. The results from six cropping systems, from long-term field experiments on Gleic Cambisols of the Valinava Experimental Site of the Lithuanian Institute of Agriculture (LIA), are also reported.
