The project prepared GIS-based maps (topographic, crop distribution, drainage pattern, vegetation/land use, slope, location of instruments and weirs, catchment and microcatchment boundaries). The maps are used to model the dynamic processes and soil erosion and hydrology of the Mapawa catchment using a Geographic Information System (GIS)-assisted methodology. The model, developed for the project, can be used to identify erosion "hotspots". With the participation of the farmers in the area, the project prepared a prioritized list of preferred soil conservation measure. From the list, the best option will be selected and tested in the catchment
