Coconut hybrids
2001
The Center developed nine coconut hybrids which were crossbreeds between Baybay Tall, as the male parent, and the dwarf cultivar, as female parent. These hybrids were precocious, high-yielding, resistant to common insect pests and diseases, and tolerant to adverse agro-climatic conditions. Of all the nine hybrids developed, variety RCRC 2 (CNO x BAY) produced the highest number of nuts at 6,960 - 14,064/ha/yr, followed by RCRC 7 (LKY x BAY) with 4,723-8,947 nuts/ha/yr
